Charity Define donates 1 Ton of Dog and Cat Food to Delmas Animal Shelter

In a heartwarming gesture of compassion, the non-profit organization "Charity Define" has come forward to support the Delmas Animal Shelter by sponsoring a generous donation of 1 ton of dog and cat food. With the shelter housing a total of 300 animals, including 130 dogs, 26 cats, and various farm animals, this contribution will go a long way in ensuring the well-being and nutrition of these vulnerable creatures.

According to mom-and-daughter team Mrs Jorinda and Ms Jolandie Verwey from the Delmas Animal Shelter, shelters play a crucial role in our society by providing a safe haven for abandoned, abused, and neglected animals. “These facilities rely heavily on community support and donations to provide essential care, including food, shelter, veterinary services, and rehabilitation. Such compassionate acts of philanthropy, like the one undertaken by Charity Define, highlight the significance of collective efforts in safeguarding and improving the lives of our beloved furry companions.”

Charity Define, a renowned non-profit organization dedicated to helping those in need, has taken a significant step forward in their mission to make a positive impact on animal welfare. Recognizing the plight of animals in shelters, they have extended a substantial sponsorship of 1 ton of dog and cat food to the Delmas Animal Shelter. This gesture not only addresses an immediate need but also sets an inspiring example for others to follow.

Alan Hayman, the custodian of Charity Define, has been at the forefront of their efforts to support animal welfare. In light of their recent sponsorship to the Delmas Animal Shelter, Mr. Hayman emphasizes the importance of continued support from the industry and the wider community. He humbly requests businesses and individuals alike to consider making further donations of food to the shelter. "By sponsoring 1 ton of dog and cat food, Charity Define has taken a step towards ensuring the well-being of the animals at Delmas Animal Shelter. However, the shelter's needs are ongoing and far-reaching. We urge businesses across the industry and compassionate individuals to join us in supporting the shelter's mission by making further donations of food. Together, we can make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of these vulnerable animals," says Mr. Hayman.

Charity Define's sponsorship of 1 ton of dog and cat food to the Delmas Animal Shelter is a testament to their commitment to making a positive impact on animal welfare. By addressing a significant need, they have set an inspiring example for the industry and the wider community to follow. Last year, Charity Define came to the aid of over 100 dogs and cats by sponsoring 1.6 tons of dog and cat food worth R30 000-00 to the Brakpan SPCA on the East Rand whilst previously also sponsoring 3 tons of dog and cat food worth over R50 000-00 to the Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre in Bronkhorstspruit.

“With continued support from compassionate individuals and businesses, we can collectively make a difference in the lives of these vulnerable animals and create a society that values and protects all living beings.” Says Hayman.

Charity Define donates 1.6 tons of food to Brakpan SPCA

Charity Define, has come to the aid of over 100 dogs and cats by sponsoring 1.6 tons of dog and cat food worth R30 000-00 to the Brakpan SPCA on the East Rand.

According to Charity Define representative Michelle Pretorius, the donation made by Charity Define was in support of the Mr and Miss Walk of Fame 2020 pageant and pet food charity drive. The Mr and Miss Walk of Fame 2020 is a model and charity drive hosted by Younique Model Academy and together with Charity Define decided to take action in sponsoring the food to the Brakpan SPCA animal shelter.

Although the main impetus of Charity Define is to use our network of business partners to create community upliftment to the benefit of all in the community and not only individuals, animal welfare and especially the "RIGHT TO LIFE" is something very close to our own hearts and we could not just simply ignore the plight of the animals

This is the second substantial donation Charity Define has made to animal welfare after coming to the aid of over 450 dogs and cats by sponsoring 3 tons of dog and cat food worth over R50 000-00 to the Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre in Bronkhorstspruit previously.

According to the Brakpan SPCA’s Tamaryn Lombard, whilst donations directly benefit the animals in their area, through a sharing agreement between all SPCA's nationwide, a portion will be used in other, less fortunate areas to benefit animals over a wider area. “We feel sure that you will approve of this outreach initiative and wish to thank you most sincerely for supporting our SPCA and the movement generally.” Says Tamaryn.

Charity Define was established in 2016 in Tiegerpoort Pretoria as a non-profit benevolence organisation set up in memory of Alan du Plessis. The organisation is managed under the auspice of Pretoria based engineering company, Mechanical Rotating Solutions.

The purpose and vision of Charity Define is to engage and partner with like-minded organisations in creating and maintaining goodwill by initiating and executing community upliftment projects within their greater operating footprint. “We aim to achieve our goals by using the expertise, skills, resources and mutual willingness of our industry partners in leaving a legacy at the various projects we aim to undertake.” says Franscois Steenkamp Director of Charity Define.

WETNOSE ANIMAL RESCUE CENTRE PROJECT

Charity Define, has come to the aid of over 450 dogs and cats by sponsoring 3 tons of dog and cat food worth over R50 000-00 to the Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre in Bronkhorstspruit.

Charity Define came to the help of Wetnose when reading about the plight of the animals and the dire need for food on social media and decided to take action in sponsoring the food to the animal shelter.

“We made contact with various organisations and found a partner in pet and animal food distributor, Bhenyati Promotions, who supplied the food at a discounted price to Charity Define and also offered to deliver the three tons of food for free to Wetnose.

Although the main impetus of Charity Define is to use our network of business partners to create community upliftment to the benefit of all in the community and not only individuals, animal welfare and especially the "RIGHT TO LIFE" is something very close to our own hearts and we could not just simply ignore the plight of the animals. Upon visiting Wetnose it was clear that a donation of R50 000.00 is a short term solution and we as a charity organisation challenge other organisations to also help and contribute to the welfare of the animals and support Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre’s "RIGHT TO LIFE" policy.”

Opened in 1999 the Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre was registered as a “RIGHT TO LIFE" organisation involved in the rehabilitation of abandoned, neglected and abused animals. “We have always believed that healthy animals should not be killed just because they are unwanted. Finding a loving home and giving a second chance to abandoned, neglected and abused animals is our primary concern” says Debbie Herselman, Managing Director of Wetnose.

“It is impossible to tell how long an abandoned or abused animal will stay with us until they find their forever-home. We are incredibly grateful to Franscois and Charity Define for their generous sponsorship of food for our animals and received the truckload of food with open arms knowing that we can take proper care of our animals for a while longer. To date we have successfully re-homed over 20 500 dogs, 1 700 cats, donkeys, goats, horses, guinea pigs, pigs and rabbits and with the generosity of organisations such as Charity Define we hope to grow this number even further. “says Debbie.
